Fall 2012 Intensive
Emergence of locomotion in the growing child…
In this Advanced Training Intensive we will examine the emergence of locomotive behavior and work to gain a better understanding of how rolling, creeping, crawling, cruising and walking are the result of self-organization rather than some inevitable expression of a “pre-programmed” functioning.
We will also consider the importance of experience, learning, spacial orientation, balance, traction, vision, and hearing in the development and improvement of mobility.
Selected ATM lessons will provide the experience of particular sensation related to the organization of our most fundamental locomotive movement patterns. To help further our study, the use of FI demonstration, group observation and practice will be incorporated at appropriate times.
